As the years pass by and children turn into adults, and then have children of their own, everything gets a little bit busier each day. Part of this evolution leads to a "Keeping up with the Jones'" mentality as we chase more sophisticated ideals and subject ourselves to more complicated realities. Then we look at our children and realize, "They have no idea how we got here. They have no idea why all these "things" that we do, and say, and care about are so important." This is why Croaker Fest was born.
As children, we were blessed to frequent Pass Christian Isles where we learned not only fishing, boating and the marine outdoors, but also the camaraderie of cooking the catch, sunset cruises, and time with family at the beach. All of these things were important to those that came before us, and they continued to be important to us. And if its important for past and present generations, then it's important for future generations.
So each year, during Father's Day weekend, we return to the place where we learned many valuable life lessons, to honor those that taught us those lessons, and to pass them on to the next generations. We chase the not-so-elusive Croaker. The Croaker isn't a regal fish, and he's certainly not a hard fish to catch, but that's the point!
So head down to the coast, find something resembling a fishing pole, and join us for a celebration of old and new.
